Management Division

About Donald Cooper

Donald Cooper started roofing as a young boy with his father, William Cooper, in 1966. He became a journeyman roofer in the late 1970s & took over the company in 1982. Donald is a visionary & takes great pride in his employees, many of which have been with the company for close to 20 years. Customer service & care are his number one priorities. Donald’s main drive is for staff training in all areas, especially in quality workmanship, safety of staff/customers, & courteous continuous customer care. Donald brought his son Chad to the company to enhance & continue the ongoing professional customer care he believes is the foundation of customer service.

About Chad Cooper

Chad has worked with the company since 1996. He finished high school & immediately proceeded to Red Deer College, where he received a diploma in Business Administration. Chad obtained 9 years of field experience & then became a full-time general manager with the company. Chad is a certified journeyman roofer & has field experience installing all types of roofing systems. He is in charge of the daily operations of the business, as well as quotations & crew scheduling for the commercial/industrial divisions. Building long-term relationships with customers & the community is very important to him. He stays updated with all the materials & technological advancements in the roofing industry & can recommend proper roofing design & materials to offer our clients affordable & quality roofing solutions. Chad is honoured to be a member of many charity organizations in our community. He has been president of the Optimist Club of Red Deer & a Lieutenant Governor for Optimist International. He is also a member of the Kin Club, Red Deer.

About Dave Herdman

Our Safety Officer, David Herdman, has 33 years of financial management experience, including 14 years of commercial lending. His experience ensures that our company will meet all of its obligations now & in the future. Mr. Herdman also acts as a safety coordinator. He is a certified construction safety officer. With his extensive background in construction safety Mr. Herdman is instrumental to our organization’s safety programs and training of personnel. This active participation allows our company to be on the leading edge of safety awareness & training

About Marcel Tone

Marcel Tone has been in the roofing industry for more than 10 years & has been involved in the construction trade for more than 20 years. Marcel began his career with Cooper Roofing back in the mid-80s as a commercial roofing crew. He later ventured out & started up a successful painting business in the residential & commercial sectors. Marcel has gained valuable experience in customer service & coatings expertise due to being a business owner for 18+ years. As a result, he was able to make a successful/dynamic transition to becoming the metal roof repair/coatings division manager for Cooper Roofing.

About Mark Hunter

Mark Hunter has been in the roofing industry since 1991, both in England & in Canada. He obtained an advanced diploma from Wirral Metropolitan College in England, which gave him the foundation to provide superior service to his customers. Mark’s extensive experience in the industry enables him to recommend & implement a roofing system to suit any residential application. Mark has worked for Cooper Roofing for over 18 years.

About Kevin Hamilton

Kevin plays a vital role in providing homeowners with clear, accurate, and competitive estimates. His attention to detail, product knowledge, and strong communication skills help ensure that every project begins with transparency and confidence.

History & Mission Statement

Established in April 1966 by William Edward Cooper, Cooper Roofing & Exteriors was initially called Cooper & Sons Roofing & had only two employees, William & his son, Donald.

The company grew by leaps & bounds, & in 1982, Donald Cooper became owner & President.

Cooper Roofing now employs over 50 staff members & many of the employees have over 20 years’ experience with the company.

Cooper Roofing operates with complete integrity & is committed to quality, safety & total customer satisfaction. Our goal is to be Central Alberta’s number one roofing contractor.
